María & Aurélien, two wonderful human beings and truly astonishing dancers, are coming all the way from Barcelona to spend an inspiring weekend with us in Munich:

Join us for a deep dive into Lindy Hop, connection, musicality, and expression, guided by their thoughtful, holistic approach to jazz dance.

• 8 hours of intensive Lindy Hop workshops
• Übungsabend (Social) on Saturday evening

We'd prefer if you registered with a partner as it helps us a lot to balance the lead/follow ratio.

Caregivers

If you are a caregiver for a child or looking after an elderly or impaired person and cannot attend both days, please email us. You may register for one day only. It is also possible for caregivers to share one pass and trade off days with each other.

We unfortunately cannot provide childcare. However, if you feel it is appropriate for you and your child, your child is welcome to be present during the workshop.

 

About the program

Throughout the weekend, the workshops will be guided by the following ideas: 

1. Connection as a living rhythmic system

The workshop intends to help refining connection beyond shapes and patterns. We’ll work on posture, tone, elasticity, and intention to build a partnership where information flows clearly and effortlessly. Both dancers actively shape the connection to support freedom, clarity, and adaptability.

2. Embodied musicality: From listening to choice

Musicality is treated as a physical and relational skill. Through work on weight, timing, and dynamics, we’ll explore how music influences how we move, not just when. The focus is on making musical decisions together, with contrast, precision, and presence.

3. Tradition as a living reference

María & Aurélien aim to connect to the roots of Lindy Hop. By studying original dancers, rhythmic approaches, and social context, we’ll explore how tradition informs technique, musicality, and partnership; without imitation or nostalgia. The goal is to let the past sharpen clarity and authenticity in our present-day dancing.

4. Integration, presence, and expression

The final focus is on integrating connection, musicality, and tradition into confident social dancing. We’ll work on making intentional choices, staying present, and expressing our personal voice within the partnership: dancing with depth, honesty, and pleasure.

 

Level

The full 8 hours will be taught with the same group throughout the weekend.

We recommend this workshop to Level 4 & 5 participants of regular classes at BB.

We recommend at least 3 years of experience in Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz and/or other jazz adjacent or continuum dances. You should feel comfortable and interested in working on the quality of your movements beyond sequences and moves. You understand and are able to reproduce rhythmic and dynamic ideas quickly and fluently. You enjoy challenges and the process of figuring out how things work without always expecting a step-by-step breakdown of movements.

“Movement is an experience; a holistic experience that starts deep within ourselves. Jazz dancing is the experience of moving to and being moved by jazz music. It is an artform born from the Black American culture and experience. It is rich with an incredible legacy and full of potential for evolution. Its links with other Black American artforms (modern or ancient) run deep and are worth exploring. Its capacity to incorporate exogenous languages is limitless. It offers a path to connect with others through tradition, culture, and the social spaces that movement creates.

​Rhythm is the core of the quest. Rhythm isn't only about footwork, nor is it exclusively a matter of precision (even though good rhythm obviously requires precision and control): rhythm is essentially expressive and, as such, it crucially involves both intention and feeling.
